Years of experience in handling a type of smart actuator – piezo actuator, we have a complete range of product line-up from stacked piezo actuator to mechanical transformer (MechaTrans TM, this is a mechanical structure to overcome the limitation of stacked piezo actuator developed by our company), to the extend of appliances such as Piezo Assist precision stage, Piezo Assist precision motor, Piezo valves, Mirror Holder, We offer both standardized and Customized Products with output stroke from several μm to several mm. Besides the standardized products stated in this homepage, we provide Customized Products based on customer needs. Besides that, we also offer a range of drivers to drive these actuators (including small size drivers as tiny as fingertip) as well as controllers.

Speaking of satellite communication, it used to be an era of radio wave communication, but in recent years, laser communication methods have been proposed and verified in various places. Conventional radio communication (microwaves) has a conspicuous problem of frequency band depletion. With optical communication in satellite, the communication speed increases by a great difference. In addition, there are no concerns about interference or eavesdropping as communication is performed with a focused laser.We will do our best to realize and popularize this dream technology, optical communication. We have over 20 years of experience in driving piezoelectric actuators and can consistently design, manufacture and sell piezoelectric actuators in-house.
Piezo Actuator : MechaTrans®
Piezoelectric device generates a required displacement with low voltage. The electrical energy can be converted to mechanical energy at 60% of the conversion efficiency rate. For example, a piezoelectric device of 10mm × 10mm cross section size produces 3,500N(357kgf). However, as the displacement to be generated ranges from a few μm up to 40μm, the application is limited due to the very small displacement. In order to overcome the disadvantage, Mechano Transformer Corporation developed the displacement enlargement mechanism by using an unique lever principle. The enlarged displacement achieves one hundred times of the piezoelectric device itself. The displacement enlargement mechanism is a kind of a passive structure and no additional energy is required. As the mechanism is similar to a transformer which is used in electric circuits, we call it mechanical transformer and abbreviate it to MechaTrans® later on as a registered trademark in Japan. MechaTrans® was originally named only for the displacement enlargement mechanism, however we currently use this name on the actuator with a piezoelectric device.
Drivers
Mechano Transformer Corporation supply various drivers and controllers to drive piezo actuators (or piezoelectric elements) at a high-speed drive with low noise. Low noise is very important for positioning applications. Besides that, digital operation such as ON / OFF drive, the factor of supplying high instantaneous current is an extremely important selection criterion in high-speed drive applications. Piezo Assist Stage
Piezo Assist Stage is a fine movement/coarse movement manual stage with a minimum resolution of 20 nanometers and coarse movement (in millimeter order). It is a manual precision stage that can be easily used in applications where precise table positioning and minute load control (nano indentation) is concerned. It is compact in size, easy to carry, and user friendly. Piezo Assist Stage is a reasonable product that can be introduced on a low budget. (* 1 nanometer = 1 billionth of a meter)
Thin Piezo Actuator/ Piezo Sensor: Macro Fiber Composite
Macro Fiber Composite (MFC) is thin actuator or sensor that is flexible, durable and reliable. MFC was invented by NASA in 1999. MFC consists of rectangular piezo ceramic rods sandwiched between layers of adhesive, electrodes, and polyimide film. The electrodes are attached to the film in an interdigitated pattern which transfers the applied voltage directly to and from the ribbon-shaped rods.
Multilayer stacked piezoelectric actuator
Multilayer stacked piezoelectric actuator is a kind of dielectric. When pressure is applied to the laminated piezoelectric actuator, it produces a "piezoelectric effect" that generates voltage. On the other hand, by applying a voltage to the piezoelectric element, it has a "reverse piezoelectric effect" in which the total length of the piezoelectric element will be extended by about 0.1%. The laminated piezoelectric actuator is sometimes called a piezo actuator, a piezoelectric element, or a piezo element. Due to the high conversion efficiency from electrical energy to mechanical energy, the size of 10x10x40mm may generate more than 5000N force.
Piezo Assist Motor
A Piezo Assist Motor is a motor that generates large displacement (long stroke), high resolution, and high thrust. The output thrusts of PAM3-6.5 and PAM6-13 are 13N and 29N, respectively. On the other hand, the displacements of PAM3-6.5 and PAM6-13 are 6.5 mm and ①3 mm, respectively, and the resolution is 30 nm and 25 nm or less, respectively.

Actuator(Piezoelectric element)
A piezoelectric element is an element that exhibits the "piezoelectric effect," which generates an electric charge or electric field when force is applied. Conversely, when a voltage is applied, it displaces and generates force (the inverse piezoelectric effect). In other words, the piezoelectric effect can be said to be a phenomenon in which kinetic energy (mechanical energy) is converted into electrical energy. The inverse piezoelectric effect is sometimes referred to collectively as the "piezoelectric effect."

Piezo Driver
A piezo driver is a driver for driving a piezo actuator. Since a piezoelectric element displaces with high speed response to minute changes in applied voltage, the performance of the piezo driver is important for properly driving a piezo actuator.
When selecting a piezo driver, it is necessary to consider the drive voltage range, capacitance, maximum peak current, and drive frequency (response speed) of the piezo actuator you want to drive. Operating precautions for MechaTrans®
MechaTrans® as well as piezoelectric element (piezoelectric actuator) are strong when being compressed but weak towards pulling force. They may achieve high durability if appropriate usage method is being applied. Please be careful of the usage environment as humidity and water are their biggest threat.
